Hello dear visitor, and Welcome to Christmass Time - The World is a Candle Tutorial.

In this tutorial we’re going to examine how to manipulate with different objects: how to apply one to another and build an ambient in between them and how to succeed a rich environment

So let’s get started, right away!

First of all we need a good stock image for the background. In this case I found THIS ONE.
Create New Layer, name it - “Background” and paste this image on it.

Now, I’m gonna work and mix the late colors, like a lot… so, I don’t want my background image to have the specific RGB color mode too, like the overdosed magenta in this case. So I’m gonna change that into… hmm let’s say – Gray, for example?

To do that, we won’t actually change the entire color mode or apply the gray as a color, we’ll simply desaturate the existing one.

Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation and apply these settings.

You’ll supposed to get something like this.

Now, beside the background we also need a quality stock image of the Planet Earth too.
I was googling and found THIS magnificent resource.

Alright since we’re done with that too, create new “Planet” layer and paste the resource on it.
Set the planet on the center of the background in a the horizontal position and slide it down to the bottom in the vertical position.

The third resource we’re going to use to create this magnificent piece of art will be the CANDLE.

So, create new “Candle” layer and import the image on it.

Now, having this picture here is not exactly what WE – THE PHOTOSHOPERS are calling it “A RESOURCE” but with a little effort, using the Eraser and the Pen Tool you’ll cut it off.
BTW. I’m using the mid-sized candle from the example.

Here’s what I’ve got.

For an extra info, I’ve been also using the Sharpen Tool on 45% strength to fix the edges like that.
