Hello dear visitor and Welcome to the "Metal Header" Tutorial.
Today we'll explore the stadium of reaching the Metal effects in the web design and guide you threw a dozen of other techniques which can be found useful not only in the web design but in the interfaces as well.
Firstly, create New Document with sizes of: 720-380px and color the Background in #434343.
Create a New Layer and name it - "Base".
Now using the Rectangular Marquee Tool create a rectangular selection as it's shown below:
Having the selection ready, set the Foreground Color to #171717 and go to: Edit > Fill (or simply press the SHIFT+F5 shortkey).
Now you need to round the edges a bit of rectangular a bit.
To do that, select the Elliptical Marquee Tool from the Tools Palette, change the tool style from Normal to Fixed Size and set the Width/Height sizes to: 20/20px.
Then, holding the SHIFT button set an elliptical selection like that in each one of the corners.
After you do that, switch the Marquee Tool to Rectangular once again and holding the SHIFT button fulfill the selection (connect them).
Here's a brief example of the technique.
When you'll have your rounded selection prepared, simply press CTRL+SHIFT+I to invert it and then hit the Delete button.
